Early attempt by yethro Early attempt by yethro
This was done about the same period as " redemption" which is about 8 yrs ago. I was still learning to draw in vector using adobe illustrator then. I didn't know how to do blends then that's why this is very flat.

Anyway i submitted it for nostalgia's sake, and as a tribute to gella - who i had a major crush on back then. :)

unfortunately, i don't have the original illustrator file anymore (sigh) i would have wanted to finish it. But then again... i may not be able to, since my i don't feel the same way about the subject anymore. :D

anyway, thanks.

ohh and yes... i'm really, really old.

You don't have musteche, but you have something instead under your head! (and I don't mean the neck) Yeah doesn't look too young, though. you can't be older than 40! ;]

8 years ago?! wow, and you still have it? i would deffinitely have lost the file by now.... anyway, on to the drawing....

well the first thing that struck me by this picture is the contrasting black and white, its not particularly easy to balance pictures like this but you seem to have managed it :) i think i'd like the plain background more than a more detailed lighter one, the way the background is it keeps the focus on the subject rather than losing in in background, so good job :)

the whole picture is a bit flat, but it's not the kind of flatness that you see the picture and think "woah, that is WAY too flat, it looks pancake-ish..." its just the style of this picture, which is not bad or good, just how it is.

i love the position shes in, makes her seem free, almost like shes flying. I also like the expression of her face, i'm not sure weather its the angle, or if i'm making things up ;) but its kind of dreamy, like shes looking at something that isn't there, like shes imagining it...

i'm not being particularly coherent at the moment so this probably doesn;t make sense, but i do have a point. That is, this is a really good picture and that i love your work :D

plz excuse my ramblings...

no need to excuse yourself, i love reading your ramblings. :)

i can't actually remember what i was trying to draw here. it was really long ago. i know the wind was suppossed to be coming up behind her.

as i noted in an earlier response, the black was suppossed to be a temporary thing.

although i try to have more focus in my current works, i think i was trying for the opposite back then. i was going for something that you have to have a second look if not a deeper one, to see the details.

i guess i wasn't successful back then, and decided to quit.

anyway, thanks hon for taking time to look and comment on it.

:)

This is really good! ^_^ I love the hair and the facial expression too. I kinda think the bottom of her shirt/picture seems too abrupt. Maybe if you vector in mist...
Of course I'm not quite sure how you'd do that... but it is a suggest and that is all.
I really like, its a great pic! ^_^

It is abrupt. But that's because is not even halfway finished.
(I was planning to do a full body)

It just seems very unfinished, I didn't even realize it actually was. *sorry*
Anyways, I hope to see if finished soon!

thanks dear.

actually the background was supposed to be a temporary thing, just so i can see the white shirt while i was drawing it.
I was originally planning to put a very bright sky background.
I'm not much for sharp contrast. I prefer more subtle and lighter gradiation. But i'm gald you found this one nice.

It looks lovely. The face seems to be so clear, longing and innocent, gazing up to nowhere. "Easy" lines, but that doesn't matter at all cause it captures all the loveliness. I really love the way you're doing faces. They're of a kind to look at and immediatly you have this deep feeling of sympathy for the figures and like them right away.

Mmm... are you familiar with vector drawing programs?

You don't really color by using "brush" strokes like you do in photoshop or other paint programs. You just select an object and select what color you want. (Kinda like coloring objects in word or powerpoint) Anyway it takes all the the skill and fun out in drawing. But it's great for people with no dexterity or coeerdination like me. :D

Thanks. But i don't think you need to. I like your style. Using vector programs like illustrator or coreldraw is really more mechanical and tedious way of illustrating. no fun really.
